After watching quite a bit of HGTV, Ben was inspired to paint a chalkboard on our kitchen wall. We bought chalkboard paint, then Ben cut and painted molding. He also put this molding in our dining room as a beautiful chair rail.

Labor Day "Staycation"
September 1, 2008-- Labor Day Weekend "Staycation"
Jackson will be 9 months old this week!
We decided not to travel this Labor Day weekend... instead we had what Ben dubbed a "staycation" and we toured some of the hot spots in and around Nashville that we haven't seen yet. We had a wonderful time! Jackson is going to be 9 months old this week and his funny and quirky personality is coming out more everyday.
Our first visit to the Opryland Hotel

Ben, Jackson and I enjoyed the last day of our "staycation" at the Opryland Hotel... which is located about 15 minutes from downtown. We really felt like we were on vacation! It was a fun day and a great way to get out of the sweltering heat.
Our Staycation at Sunset Family Restaurant
Jackson enjoyed his first taste of coconut cream pie at the Sunset Family Restaurant in
Lebanon, TN. This was a quintessential Tennessee "meat and three" restaurant and a great addition to our little "staycation."
Our quirky nugget
What is Jackson doing here? Playing with his favorite toy! It doesn't matter how many toys we buy Jack... he's fallen in love with a rubber spatula. Here Ben decided to get him a new red and black spatula, so we could start using ours for cooking again. Ben put it perfectly tonight when he said, "At 9 months, Jackson is already quirky."

to do the dishes first.
